Hosted by the Religion Department and the Weinstein Fund, the title of Professor Bregman's lecture is “The Sacrifice of Isaac in Art and Jewish Legend.” The story of Abraham’s near sacrifice of his son is foundational for the three Abrahamic religions: Judaism, Christianity and Islam. The presentation will explore how this well-known narrative has been interpreted not only in texts but also in artistic images.
