In May of 1993, the first Donning of the Kente Celebration was held at West Chester University In Pennsylvania. This ceremony was designed to celebrate the academic and personal achievements of students of African descent. In June of 2006, Washington and Lee University held its first celebration. This year, we are extending the ceremony to all multicultural seniors. We want to celebrate the breadth of the diversity represented at Washington and Lee and all of the wonderful ways in which you have enriched our institution.
