What does it cost? - $4,000 (approximate cost depending on flights and final itinerary) This includes: international flight, domestic flight(s) lodging, most breakfasts, lunches, dinners, trip insurance, local transportation costs (local taxis, train/buses, trip from campus to airport if on same flight, etc.), all entrances fees to temples, parks, sleeping bag if needed, English speaking trekking guide and porters, etc. First half due February 1, 2016, remaining half due April 25th, 2015. What do you need? - Commitment. If you are ready to do this you’ll also need a valid Passport. A non-refundable deposit of $500 (make sure you want to do this!). Arrange your own flights on your own or have the outing club purchase the flight for you. If you choose to pay your own flights- your trip cost will be negotiated based on the outing club international flight cost. Uphill Hiking? - Yes, high altitude, and uphill. Cold temps, rustic camping in Tea Houses. Proper fitness level and acclimatization mandatory. Hiking boots? Yes. You’ll need hiking shoes/boots and proper cold weather clothing. This is not a red carpet trip. Our highpoint on the trail will be approx. 18,200ft with multiple days over 11,000 ft. (yes, that is high) Should you do this? - Yes. Arguably the best trekking in the world is in the Khumbu Valley of Nepal and it is a great time to experience a walk to the doorstep of the world’s highest mountain. In fact you’ll see 4 of the 6 highest peaks in the world.
