Interested in getting Wilderness First Responder certified? A WFR course is a hands-on program that teaches you techniques and strategies to be prepared for many medical situations in a wilderness setting. Topics range from wound care to emergency injections to safe evacuations to emergency childbirth. This versatile certification is appealing (and often essential) for most wilderness guide/education jobs including, but not limited to, summer camps, wilderness trekking programs, other educational programs. However, this certification also makes anyone and everyone a more responsible, prepared, and knowledgeable outdoor enthusiast. Our course will be over February Break, from Friday, Feb. 19 to Saturday, Feb. 28. The course will be held on campus, making use of backcampus trails and other outdoor areas for field practice. The total cost of this course will be $650 with a deposit of $250 upon sign-up. The remaining $400 will be due upon the first day of the course. Contact Emily Price (eprice@wlu.edu) if you have any questions or would just like more information about signing up.
