Chamber Singers Tour Kick-Off: A Taste of Italy

April 2, 2013

8:00 PM - 10:00 PM

Susan Wager

Join the renowned W&L Chamber Singers as they kick off their April tour of Italy with an evening of a cappella choral mastery. The program will open with a set of traditional Italian works by Gabrieli, Palestrina, Monteverdi, and Rossini. Following this, modern American choral music will be featured in Elemental, with music by Paulus, Gjeilo, Whitacre, and others complementing the classical elements of air, water, fire, earth, and aether. Finally, the program will close with music highlighting Americana, including Ward Swingle’s wonderful "Country Dances" and René Clausen’s sublime arrangement of John Jacob Niles haunting "Black is the Color of My True Love’s Hair," featuring Alicia Bishop ’13 on clarinet. The concert concludes with hymns, folk songs, and spirituals that are always audience favorites.

Tickets are free, but required.
